Get 'Writing Ready' for School!
Pre School Fine Motor & Handwriting School Readiness Course

Group sessions over a period of 12 weeks, recently taken place at 'Rocking Horse Nursery' in Bristol, can be run at local Pre Schools for those about to start Reception in September. The course involves:
-
Working on the children’s pre writing lines and shapes which are essential for early letter formation
-
Laying down the foundations of motor patterns in early letter formation through homemade play dough and tracing letters using songs from The Happy Handwriter (OT Bunty McDougall)
-
Working on developing fine motor skills and hand eye coordination through cutting (scissor control) and engaging craft activities.
-
Developing pencil control and grasp through crayons, pencils and art materials
-
Games which teach social skills such as turn taking, sharing and incorporating fine motor skills.
Below are some pictures of what we have been up to at Rocking Horse Nursery, Kingswood this summer term 2025!

Testimonials
Jo ran a 'school readiness' programme for our pre-school children. It was packed full of fun and engaging art activities and songs all designed to strengthen their fingers and co-ordination. The children were frilled with their creations and had joy on their faces as they showed their parents at the end of the session.
Jo, sensitivity encouraged the children to hold tools, such as scissors and pencils in a way that will support their handwriting skills as they grow and develop.
